IBI surveyed 256 human resources and benefits managers about their company’s return-to-work (RTW) resource and matched responses to their company’s short-term disability (STD) claims outcomes in IBI’s Health and Productivity Benchmarking system. This executive summary briefly provides an overview of the findings:

  • The good news: Companies with RTW resources saw bigger year-over-year declines in their disability durations.
  • The bad news: Half of the employers surveyed had no RTW resources. Most that did lack resources directly focused on managing non-occupational disability cases.
